Infosys Ltd. has launched its new state-of-the-art development centre in Kolkata, West Bengal, marking a significant milestone in the company's expansion and commitment to innovation in the region. The 320,000 sq. ft. facility, built with an investment of over Rs 426 crore, will host over 4,000 employees who will work on cutting-edge technologies such as cloud computing, artificial intelligence (AI), and digital transformation. This centre will cater to a variety of industries, including manufacturing, logistics, financial services, energy, and utilities.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by West Bengal's Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, alongside Babul Supriyo, the state's Minister-in-charge for Information Technology and Electronics, and senior leaders from both the state government and Infosys. The centre also reflects Infosys' commitment to the environment, featuring eco-friendly design elements like low-energy cooling, smart building automation, rainwater harvesting, and wastewater recycling.
The centre is designed to provide a hybrid working model for its employees, with flexible workstations and advanced training facilities. Jayesh Sanghrajka, Infosys' Chief Financial Officer, highlighted the facility’s role in boosting business growth and enhancing the IT ecosystem in West Bengal. This investment strengthens Infosys’ commitment to the Indian workforce, reinforcing its long-term vision for technology and innovation in the country.
