- Allu Arjun, Sandhya Theatre incident, compensation, Telangana politics
The Sandhya Theatre controversy continues to escalate, with no resolution in sight. The issue has caught the attention of Telangana’s Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and his cabinet ministers, who are actively discussing the matter. The controversy centers around a tragic incident in which a woman named Revathi lost her life, and her son remains critically injured, after a large crowd was gathered outside the theatre during the release of Allu Arjun's film.
Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy has accused Allu Arjun of negligence, stating that despite being advised not to visit the theatre, the star hero went ahead with an open-top car show, leading to the fatal incident. Komatireddy criticized Allu Arjun for continuing with his plans even after the police informed him of the accident, calling his actions ignorant and irresponsible.
In the aftermath of the incident, Komatireddy has demanded that Allu Arjun and the makers of the film compensate the family of the deceased with ₹20 crore, citing the huge box-office earnings of the film, which reportedly earned over ₹2000 crore. This compensation demand has intensified the debate, despite Allu Arjun’s initial pledge to contribute ₹25 lakh to the family and cover medical expenses, along with the Telangana government’s involvement in providing medical compensation. Komatireddy himself also contributed ₹25 lakh to the family, but the demand for a higher amount has added fuel to the political fire, leading to further tensions and media attention.
