- Allu Arjun, Pushpa-2 stampede, stampede incident, police investigation
The controversy surrounding Allu Arjun’s actions during the deadly stampede at the Pushpa-2 screening on December 4 continues to escalate. Police have revealed that despite being informed about the death of a woman, Revathi, and the chaos unfolding at the cinema hall, Allu Arjun remained inside the theatre until the movie ended.
City police commissioner CV Anand shared a video, compiled from news channels and cellphone footage, showing the situation during the stampede. While the video speaks for itself, Anand allowed the media to draw its own conclusions regarding the actor's conduct. Police officials had informed the actor's staff about the tragic incident and suggested that he leave the theatre for the safety of the crowd, but were initially unable to reach him. Eventually, after a discussion with a senior officer, Allu Arjun was escorted out.
Allegations have surfaced that bouncers hired by Allu Arjun may have acted aggressively, pushing crowds and even police officers during the incident. The police commissioner warned that strict legal action would be taken if such claims were true, and that VIPs like Allu Arjun would be held responsible for their hired staff's actions.
State Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy criticized Allu Arjun's response to the matter and demanded an apology, especially after his comments in the Legislative Assembly. On the other hand, Union Minister of State for Home Bandi Sanjay Kumar defended the actor, accusing CM Revanth Reddy of character assassination. He also visited the family of the injured boy, offering his condolences and support.
The incident continues to raise concerns about safety at film events, with state DGP Jitender emphasizing the importance of public safety in such gatherings. The investigation is ongoing, and further actions will be determined in the coming days.
