Vijay Sharma, a fake doctor, was arrested for orchestrating a significant scam that involved selling fraudulent medical degrees to over 400 students. This deceptive scheme defrauded students of approximately ₹3.7 crore, leaving many unaware of the illegitimacy of their degrees until they sought employment or applied for medical licenses. The investigation revealed that Khusro Memorial P.G. College played a pivotal role in issuing these fake MBBS degrees from various universities across India.

Authorities uncovered that Sharma, who falsely claimed to hold an MBBS degree himself, had been actively involved in creating and selling these counterfeit diplomas. He admitted to generating fake degrees from institutions located in states such as Orissa, Himachal Pradesh, Roorkee, and Kanpur. The funds acquired from this fraudulent operation were reportedly used to amass substantial property and assets, indicating the scale of the scam.

Additionally, Sharma has a troubling history, with several prior cases filed against him for fraud and forgery. He previously completed a course in Naturopathy and Yoga Sciences, which he used to establish a consultancy that also issued fake degrees. His arrest highlights the urgent need for stricter regulations and oversight within the education sector to prevent similar scams that prey on aspiring medical professionals.
