On Monday, Nilambur Independent MLA PV Anvar submitted his resignation to Kerala Assembly Speaker AN Shamseer after joining the Trinamool Congress (TMC) as the state coordinator. During a press conference, Anvar stated that it was up to the Speaker to accept his resignation and shared details of his conversation with TMC leader Mamata Banerjee regarding Kerala's ongoing human-animal conflict, which he intends to raise in Parliament.

Anvar accused certain leaders of changing their stance on corruption matters, specifically pointing to the Chief Minister's political secretary P Sasi, ADGP Ajith Kumar, and former Malappuram collector Sujith Das. He claimed Das was involved in wrongful activities, including unfairly accusing people from a specific community. He further expressed disappointment in the lack of support from his party leadership after raising these concerns.

He issued an apology to opposition leader VD Satheesan regarding corruption allegations and announced that he would not contest the Nilambur by-election. Instead, he expressed his full support for the Congress candidate, emphasizing the importance of ending the current Pinarayi government in Kerala.

Anvar’s resignation and apology are significant in the context of Kerala's political landscape, as he pledged support to Congress and shifted his alignment with the ruling LDF government.
