- Arshdeep Dalla, Khalistan Tiger Force, NIA, India-Canada relations
India has made a formal request to Canada for the extradition of Arshdeep Dalla, a key figure in the Khalistan Tiger Force (KTF), a banned terror group. Dalla is accused of being involved in over 50 criminal cases including murder, terror financing, and extortion. The Indian government considers him a "proclaimed offender" and linked him to the terrorist acts of Hardeep Nijjar, a prominent Khalistani activist killed in June 2023. His arrest in Canada follows a gunfight in which he was injured, and law enforcement found weapons at his residence, solidifying his criminal activities.
Dalla, originally from Moga in Punjab, has allegedly orchestrated several high-profile killings using a network of sleeper cells across continents, including North America, Europe, and Asia. His criminal operations are believed to be supported by Pakistan’s ISI, involving arms smuggling to Punjab through drone drops. India’s request to extradite Dalla comes amid ongoing tensions between India and Canada following Nijjar's murder. The extradition would further bolster India’s efforts to combat terrorism linked to separatist groups and cross-border smuggling activities.
