- Samsung Galaxy Watch, kids smartwatch, parental controls
Samsung has launched a new feature for the Galaxy Watch 7 LTE, designed specifically for kids. This feature allows parents to manage their child's watch via the Google Family Link, offering a safer and more controlled smartwatch experience for children.
To set up the watch, parents can use their own phone, eliminating the need for a separate smartphone. Once set up, the watch operates independently, with an activated eSIM. The system provides a variety of tools for staying connected, including location sharing to monitor the child's whereabouts, customizable contact lists, and an SOS feature where the child can call for help by pressing a button five times.
Additionally, parents can activate the "School Time" mode, which acts as a do-not-disturb function, allowing kids to focus on learning without distractions. The watch also includes 20+ teacher-approved apps and watch faces, featuring popular characters like Bobby and Marvel heroes. These apps aim to provide a fun, educational experience for children while also encouraging healthy habits through activity tracking.
Currently, this feature is available in the US, starting January 22, alongside the launch of the Galaxy S25 series. It is only compatible with the Galaxy Watch 7 LTE model at this time, and there is no official word on its availability outside the US.
