- Vande Bharat Express, Kalyan route, Mumbai train services
The Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Mumbai's Central Railway issued a clarification regarding the change of route taken by the CSMT Madgaon Vande Bharat Express. The clarification came in response to allegations made by Akhilesh Yadav, the national president of the Samajwadi Party, who claimed that the train went to Kalyan instead of Goa.
The DRM denied these claims, calling them "factually incorrect." According to the statement, the Vande Bharat Express started at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) in Mumbai and was on course to reach Madgaon. However, due to a technical issue at Diva station in Thane, Maharashtra, the train was diverted to Kalyan. This diversion was necessary because the train faced a problem on the Diva-Panvel railway line, where the express was supposed to continue towards Panvel.
The deviation delayed the train by 90 minutes and caused further delays in local train services on the central railway. Central Railway’s Chief Public Relations Officer, Swapnil Nila, explained that the problem was caused by a failure in the signalling and telecommunications system at Diva Junction, a crucial point where trains bound for Konkan must transition to the Panvel route. Following the issue, the Vande Bharat train continued its journey via Kalyan before reversing at Diva station and proceeding to Madgaon as originally scheduled.
