In a recent trip to Andhra Pradesh, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy held an interactive session with party cadres in Mangalagiri, where he addressed the ongoing tensions surrounding Nara Lokesh's controversial “Red Book.” This document, which has sparked significant discussion within the YCP (Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party), aims to record instances of misconduct by police officials against TDP (Telugu Desam Party) members during the YCP’s tenure.
During his speech, Jagan criticized the current political climate under the NDA government, suggesting it has fostered a “dangerous” environment for his party. He claimed that TDP cadres are actively targeting YCP leaders, which he views as a troubling trend in political conduct.
Jagan made a pointed reference to the “Red Book,” stating, “Red book rasukovadam pedda pani emi kaadu… maa vallu kuda books rasukuntunnaru,” indicating that YCP cadres are also documenting the names of TDP leaders who pose challenges to them. This comment served as a thinly veiled threat to TDP members, suggesting that YCP would not forget those who oppose them.
Additionally, YCP spokesperson Ambati Rambabu recently revealed his own “green book,” which he claims lists hardworking YCP cadres. He promised to reward these individuals once the YCP regains power, further emphasizing the competitive and retaliatory nature of Andhra Pradesh politics.
As the rivalry intensifies, the political narrative in Andhra Pradesh is becoming increasingly centered around the symbolic “Red Book,” “Green Book,” and a broader quest for political retribution, reflecting the high stakes of the region's electoral landscape.
