The government of Andhra Pradesh, under Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, has made significant strides in developing the Amaravati Capital Region. Following the formation of his government, Naidu successfully secured central government funds for the capital's growth. In a pivotal development, the central government has now approved a new 57-km railway line to Amaravati, with an estimated cost of Rs. 2245 crore.
Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that this railway line will greatly improve Amaravati's connectivity to major Indian cities such as Hyderabad, Kolkata, Chennai, and Bengaluru. The new line promises to facilitate easier travel across northern, central, and southern India, while also linking Amaravati to key ports like Machilipatnam, Krishnapatnam, and Kakinada, enhancing transportation in these vital areas.
Moreover, the railway line is expected to boost tourism by providing convenient access to several attractions, including the Amaravati Stupa, Dhyana Buddha Project, Amaralingeshwara Swamy Temple, and the Undavalli Caves. The realization of the Amaravati Railway Line has been a long-standing ambition for Chandrababu Naidu, marking a transformative step for the capital city’s transportation infrastructure and overall development.
