In a surprising twist in Maharashtra's assembly elections, Shaina NC, a prominent spokesperson for the BJP, has been nominated by Eknath Shinde's faction of the Shiv Sena to contest from the Mumbadevi constituency. This announcement comes as part of the ongoing tussle over seat allocations in the politically charged environment leading up to the elections.

Shaina NC, aged 51, will officially file her nomination tomorrow, marking the last day for submissions. The Mumbadevi constituency is noteworthy as it has been under Congress representation since 2009, highlighting the significance of Shaina's candidacy in a traditionally contested area.

Originally in the running for the Worli seat, which has now been awarded to Shiv Sena's Milind Deora, Shaina's nomination from Mumbadevi is viewed as a strategic move by the Shiv Sena to bolster its candidate lineup and appease party dynamics. In her response to the nomination, she expressed no dissatisfaction, emphasizing the importance of party decisions and leadership prerogatives.

"I congratulate my friend Milind Deora on his candidature as the Mahayuti candidate for the prestigious Worli assembly constituency," Shaina stated. She reaffirmed her commitment to the alliance, declaring that the party's focus is on the development of Mumbai and Maharashtra, placing national interests above individual aspirations.

The upcoming contest in the Worli constituency is expected to be highly competitive, pitting Milind Deora against Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray, further intensifying the political landscape in Maharashtra.
