- YSR Congress, 2024 election defeat, Jagan Mohan Reddy, Andhra Pradesh politics
The aftermath of the YSR Congress' landslide defeat in the 2024 general election has left the party in turmoil, with many senior leaders defecting. Prominent figures like Alla Nani, Breda Mastan, Avanti Srinivas, and Grandhi Srinivas have already parted ways with Jagan Mohan Reddy’s leadership, signaling the party’s deepening crisis. Adding to the woes, seasoned Andhra Pradesh politician and former Congress MLA Gone Prakash Rao has claimed that 4-5 more MLAs are likely to leave the party soon, further weakening YCP's position.
Prakash Rao’s comments underscore the party’s vulnerability, stating that the loss of these MLAs could leave YSR Congress with very little standing. He pointed out the resignation of 2-3 Rajya Sabha MPs and the departure of loyalists like Alla Nani and Balineni Srinivasa Reddy as signs of the party’s collapse. Rao also criticized Jagan for his monopolistic approach to politics and his delusion of winning the next election despite widespread dissatisfaction with his policies, especially on sand and liquor issues.
Despite the mounting setbacks, Jagan Mohan Reddy remains confident that he will regain power in the next election. However, with the growing discontent within his party and the potential loss of more leaders, the path to recovery for YSR Congress seems increasingly uncertain.
