- Rohit Sharma, India cricket team, Sunil Gavaskar, Adelaide Test
Rohit Sharma, the Indian cricket team captain, has struggled with his form in the ongoing series against Australia. After missing the first Test in Perth due to family commitments, Rohit returned to the squad for the day-night match in Adelaide but failed to make an impact. In the second match, his poor form continued, as he was dismissed cheaply in both innings. Rohit's dismissals were concerning due to his lack of foot movement, as he was trapped in front of the stumps in both innings.
In the first innings, Scott Boland had him plumb in front, while Pat Cummins breached his defense in the second innings, removing his off-stump. Legendary cricketer Sunil Gavaskar was quick to point out that Rohit’s issue lies in his feet not moving properly. He advised the Indian skipper to work on his footwork by doing some exercises or light jogging before coming out to bat, to improve circulation in his legs.
Rohit, who returned to the number 6 position after nearly six years, struggled to find form at the spot. Both Ravi Shastri and Gavaskar have suggested that Rohit should return to opening the innings for the third Test in Brisbane, hoping it will help him regain his rhythm.
