Sri Lankan wicketkeeper-batter Niroshan Dickwella has been suspended by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) following allegations of an anti-doping violation. The suspension, announced with immediate effect on Friday, relates to an incident during the recently concluded Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2024, where Dickwella captained the Galle Marvels. The Sri Lanka Anti-Doping Agency (SLADA) conducted the test as part of SLC's ongoing efforts to uphold the integrity of cricket and ensure the sport remains free from prohibited substances.

The decision to suspend Dickwella aligns with SLC's commitment to maintaining high standards in cricket and adheres to the guidelines set by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA). This move underscores the collaboration between Sri Lanka Cricket and the Ministry of Sports to enforce a strict anti-doping policy. Dickwella, who last represented Sri Lanka in March of the previous year, has also faced disciplinary actions in the past for his behavior on and off the field.

The suspension will remain in place until further notice, pending further investigation. This action highlights the sport's ongoing battle against doping and the steps taken by cricket authorities to ensure fair play and athlete integrity.
