- RishabhPant, ICCTestrankings
Rishabh Pant has made headlines by overtaking teammate Virat Kohli to claim the sixth spot in the ICC Test rankings for batters. This rise comes after Pant's impressive counter-attacking innings of 99 in the second innings of the opening Test against New Zealand. Meanwhile, Kohli, who scored a solid 70 in Bengaluru, has dropped to eighth place in the rankings.
India's highest-ranked batter remains Yashasvi Jaiswal, positioned fourth. In a bit of a setback, captain Rohit Sharma fell two places, now sharing the 15th spot with Sri Lanka's Dimuth Karunaratne.
The New Zealand squad also saw significant movements in the rankings. Rachin Ravindra surged an impressive 36 places to reach 18th, while Devon Conway climbed 12 spots to land at 36th. In the bowlers' category, Matt Henry emerged as the standout, moving up two spots to ninth after taking eight wickets in New Zealand's eight-wicket victory over India.
Additionally, Pakistani spinner Noman Ali was reinstated at 17th after claiming 11 wickets across two innings against England, while Sajid Khan improved his standing by 22 places, reaching 50th after being named Player of the Match in the same series.
India's pace spearhead remains atop the bowlers' rankings, followed closely by R. Ashwin. Ravindra Jadeja holds steady at seventh, ensuring India has multiple representatives in the top 10 of both batting and bowling categories.
