In a rain-affected pink-ball warm-up match in Canberra, Sam Konstas emerged as the standout performer for Australia's Prime Minister's XI, scoring a brilliant century against the Indian side. Despite India's dominance throughout the fixture, Konstas showcased his potential as a promising cricketer, drawing attention to his skills and his confidence in facing top-level bowling. Notably, India’s marquee pacer Jasprit Bumrah was rested from the practice match, meaning Konstas did not have the opportunity to face him.

Konstas expressed his excitement at the prospect of facing Bumrah in a future match, acknowledging the pacer's skill and reputation as one of the best in the world. "Hopefully, one day I can face him and see how we go," said Konstas, who remains confident in his own game after extensive practice. While he is yet to debut in Test cricket, Konstas' performances for Australia PM's XI and in First-Class cricket, including his recent knock against India A, have raised calls for his inclusion in the Australian Test squad.

Selectors had previously considered Konstas for the opening spot in the Perth Test, but the team opted for Nathan McSweeney. As the Adelaide Test approaches, all eyes will be on whether Konstas' strong performances, including his century in the warm-up game, will earn him a spot in the playing XI for Australia.
