Samantha's recent theatrical release Yashoda has landed in a legal mess after EVA IVF Hospital lodged a petition against the film over defamation grounds. The Hyderabad Civil Court has agreed with the hospital and ordered precautionary action against Yashoda.
Going into the story, EVA IVF lodged a petition against the Yashoda unit, saying the film uses their hospital name for a shady purpose in the film. They claimed the film projects EVA IVF's trademark name in a bad light and this would in turn affect their image in the public.
EVA IVF has requested immediate action against Yashoda over defamation grounds and seeks legal action against the makers for illicitly using their name.
The court agreed with the argument of the hospital and ordered precautionary action against Yashoda. The court has ordered the makers not to release the film on OTT at least till the 19th of December. The court also issued a notice to the makers to respond to the defamation claim.
Further investigation on the case has been pushed to the 19th of December. The film's OTT release could be in trouble following this legal hurdle.
