Balakrishna in firing line over Akkineni Thokkineni remark

Nandamuri Balakrishna was at his energetic best at the post-release promotional event of Veera Simha Reddy that was held in Hyderabad last night. He spoke at length about the film and how he enjoyed working on it.
But Balakrishna made one out of context remark that had led to him standing in the firing line on social media as he took a sly dig at the Akkineni family.
Speaking at the event, Balayya said "My father Sr NTR garu too had many contemporaries like Ranga Rao, Akkineni, Thokkineni, and others". This very comment from Balakrishna has anguished social media users.
Balakrishna's untoward remark on the Akkineni family has not gone well with the vast majority of Telugu crowd on social media and they are calling him out over the same.
The common opinion on social media is that Balakrishna should have refrained from making such an unnecessary and provocative comment on the Akkineni family.
Whether or not Balalrishna intended to put it that way is unknown. Will he issue a public statement on the same and apologize to those who took offense to it? We have to wait and see.
