SS Rajamouli's epic film RRR made history on Monday by winning the Oscar for Best Original Song, with its track 'Naatu Natu' becoming the first Indian song to win at the prestigious awards. The film was also the first Indian entry in over two decades to be nominated for the Academy Awards.

MM Keeravaani composed the energetic anthem, which was performed at the ceremony. Keeravaani accepted the award in a musical fashion, describing the song as "the pride of India" and greeting the Oscar audience with a "namaste".

In a statement, Keeravaani revealed that his wish, along with Rajamouli's and his family's, was for RRR to win and for it to put him on top of the world. The film, which stars Jr. NTR, Ram Charan, and Alia Bhatt, is set in the 1920s and follows two Indian revolutionaries fighting against the British Raj.
