For those who don't already know, the U.S consulate in Hyderabad had been relocating to the Nanakramguda, Hyderabad enclosure for the past few weeks. The operations were being run from an interim building in the city for the last 3 weeks or so.
The latest news is that the U.S consulate has fully relocated to the Nanakramguda campus and resumed full fledged operations form this facility.
"Today we raised the American flag at the new U.S. Consulate General in #Hyderabad! I’m grateful to everyone who worked to make this day and this amazing facility possible, and I’m eager to keep building the U.S.-India partnership in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Odisha!" the U.S Consul General, Hyderabad Jennifer Larson tweeted a little while ago.
Today marks a milestone in the U.S.-India strategic partnership! At a cost of $340 million, our new consulate facility in Hyderabad is an investment in the U.S. relationship with India. We look forward to increasing our staff – including visa officers – in order to continue expanding U.S.-India ties in the months and years to come," Larson told in a press briefing recently.
The new office is located in Nanakramguda and it is intended to amp up the Visa issuance rate. Last year, over 18,000 student visas were allotted from the old office. The number will only go up from the coming year.
