Out of nowhere, the Telugu Desam Party threw a big surprise in the Andhra Pradesh MLC elections today by winning the solitary MLC seat in the MLA-elected elections today.

TDP's candidate Panchumarthi Anuradha won the MLC election today and she polled 23 MLA votes to register this unexpected victory.

Though TDP won 23 MLA seats in the 2019 election, 4 of them had been moving with the YSRCP in the recent past. At this juncture, not many expected TDP to go on to poll 23 MLA votes and actually win an MLC seat.

TDP's Anuradha won the election through cross voting from the YSRCP and this isn't something that the ruling party was expecting, especially with under a year to go for Andhra Pradesh elections.

This comes at a crucial juncture in Andhra Pradesh politics and it has to be seen how the YS Jagan-led party will analyse and react to this development.

The rest of 6 MLC seats were all won by the ruling party, YSRC and expectedly so. TDP now holds one solitary MLC seat in the house.
