Samantha's Shakuntalam was a humongous dud at the box office with shockingly low openings and utterly poor full-run numbers. It goes down as one of the costliest failures ever in Tollywood.
Incidentally, the film has made its OTT debut now on its official OTT streaming partner, Amazon Prime Video. It is streaming in all languages on Prime now.
But there's a catch here as Shakuntalam has opened to a very weak response even on OTT. The film was released on Amazon without any prior promotions or any sort of announcement by Amazon Prime.
Perhaps, Amazon felt it is a waste of money and resources to even promote the film ahead of its OTT release. That could be the reason why they released the film directly on the platform without any prior announcement or promotions.
