Kannada actor and filmmaker Rakshit Shetty is currently facing legal issues regarding the alleged unauthorized use of songs in his recent film, Bachelor Party. MRT Music, a music rights firm, has filed a complaint against Shetty and his production house, Paramvah Studios, accusing them of using songs from the movies Nyaya Ellide and Gaalimaathu without proper permissions. The controversy arose after these songs reportedly appeared in Bachelor Party, which premiered on Prime Video in March 2024. Despite discussions between Shetty and MRT Music earlier in January 2024, negotiations over the rights to these songs were reportedly unsuccessful.
In response to the complaint, the Bengaluru Police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against Shetty and his production house, and an investigation is currently underway. Shetty has been issued a notice to respond to the allegations. This is not the first time Shetty has encountered copyright issues; previously, his production house was involved in a legal dispute with Lahari Music over the song 'Hey Who Are You' from the film Kirik Party in 2016.
Rakshit Shetty is widely respected in Kannada cinema, known for his acclaimed acting and filmmaking prowess. He has received accolades such as a National Film Award and two Karnataka State Film Awards throughout his career.
