Selena Gomez, the actress and singer, shared that she learned about her Emmy nomination only after receiving a text message from a friend, as no one else had informed her at the time. In an interview with US TV show Extra, Gomez explained, "I got a text from a friend saying 'congratulations,' and my initial response was, 'For what?' My friend just laughed at me, so I didn't fully understand for about an hour. Then my team called me. It was through them that I finally got the news, and I was very, very excited." Gomez, who started her career as a child actress on Wizards of Waverly Place, later established herself in the music industry but made a major return to acting with the mystery comedy series Only Murders in the Building, according to femalefirst.co.uk. She added, "I received flowers from Marty (Martin Short) and Steve (Steve Martin). I'm currently in LA, Marty's constantly traveling, and Steve is in New York. Gomez is nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for her role in Only Murders in the Building alongside co-stars Steve Martin and Martin Short.
