The Hema Committee’s report has significantly impacted the Malayalam film industry by exposing numerous sexual harassment cases involving prominent figures. This led to notable resignations, including that of director Ranjith from the Kerala Chalachitra Academy and Mohanlal from AMMA (Association of Malayalam Movie Artists). The Women In Cinema Collective (WCC), an organization dedicated to supporting women in the industry, has been at the forefront of advocating against such crimes.

Inspired by the efforts of WCC, women in the Telugu film industry have now turned their attention to their own sector’s issues. Actress Samantha publicly supported the Hema Committee’s findings and praised WCC’s relentless efforts. In her social media post, she welcomed the report and urged the Telangana government to publish a similar subcommittee report on sexual harassment within the Telugu film industry. Samantha highlighted the creation of The Voice of Women in 2019, a group formed to support women in Telugu cinema and address their concerns.

Director Nandini Reddy echoed similar sentiments, emphasizing the need for transparency and effective policies to ensure a safe working environment for women in Telugu cinema. With prominent figures advocating for the release of the subcommittee’s report, attention now turns to whether the Telangana government will disclose the findings and take actionable steps to address these critical issues in the industry.
