Celebrating 100 Years of Natasamrat ANR: ‘ANR 100 – King Of The Silver Screen’ Film Festival

September 20, 2024, marks the centenary of the legendary actor Akkineni Nageswara Rao, affectionately known as Natasamrat. To commemorate this milestone, the Akkineni family, in collaboration with the Film Heritage Foundation, is presenting a special retrospective film festival titled “ANR 100 – King Of The Silver Screen.” This festival is a tribute to ANR’s illustrious career and his remarkable contributions to South Indian cinema.
The festival, running from September 20 to 22, 2024, will feature a curated selection of ten restored classics that highlight ANR’s exceptional range and powerful performances. Organized in partnership with NFDC – National Film Archive Of India and PVR-Inox, the event will take place across 25 cities in India, including major metropolitan areas such as Hyderabad, Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, and Bengaluru, as well as smaller cities like Vadodara, Jalandhar, Rourkela, Warangal, Kakinada, and Tumkur.
Attendees will have the unique opportunity to experience ANR’s landmark Telugu films, including cherished titles like ‘Devadasu’ (1953), ‘Missamma’ (1955), ‘Mayabazar’ (1957), ‘Bharya Bharthalu’ (1961), ‘Gundamma Katha’ (1962), ‘Doctor Chakravarthi’ (1964), ‘Sudigundalu’ (1968), ‘Prem Nagar’ (1971), ‘Premabhishekam’ (1981), and ‘Manam’ (2014). Each film has been meticulously restored to ensure a high-quality viewing experience, allowing audiences to relive the magic of ANR’s cinematic legacy on the big screen.
