Legendary director Mani Ratnam, known for his profound impact on Indian cinema, recently expressed a heartfelt desire to collaborate with the immensely talented Sai Pallavi. This revelation occurred during the pre-release event of Siva Karthikeyan’s upcoming film Amaran, which was attended by notable figures including music director GV Prakash, director Lokesh Kanagaraj, and of course, Mani Ratnam himself.
While speaking about Sai Pallavi, Mani Ratnam shared, “I am a very big fan of you; I hope I will work with you one day.” His words left the audience in awe and sparked curiosity about why it has taken so long for Sai Pallavi to be directed by such a revered filmmaker.
Sai Pallavi reciprocated Mani Ratnam’s admiration, stating, “Before entering cinema, I didn’t know many directors, but Mani Ratnam was a name I always knew. He’s one reason I’m particular about the scripts and roles I choose.” Interestingly, Mani Ratnam had initially considered her for the role of Cheliya, which ultimately went to Aditi Rao Hydari.
As anticipation builds for Amaran, set to release on October 31, the event underscored the mutual respect between the two artists and highlighted the ongoing influence of Mani Ratnam on the next generation of filmmakers and actors.
