Suriya is on a promotional spree for his highly anticipated film Kanguva, taking his efforts to both North and South India. Spending considerable time in Mumbai, the actor is determined to make a substantial impact in Hindi cinema. During a recent promotional event, he reflected on his much-discussed character, Rolex, from the film Vikram, sharing behind-the-scenes insights that have piqued audience interest.
Suriya revealed that he did not receive the scene paper for his role until he arrived on set, which added to his nerves. “I was very nervous that day, and we planned a half-day shoot. The director and the team were setting up the set for me, and later, Lokesh explained to me what to do,” he said. He also touched on a personal commitment he made regarding on-screen smoking. Initially, Suriya had vowed never to portray smoking in his films. However, he decided to break this rule for the sake of authenticity, saying, “I am playing a bad guy, so why should I bring Suriya there?”
Suriya also humorously mentioned his desire to finish filming before Kamal Haasan arrived on set, admitting that he felt intimidated acting in front of the legendary actor. “It is a dream come true for me to act in Kamal sir’s production, and I credit Lokesh for making it smooth and easy for me,” he shared. His experience on Vikram has instilled a newfound confidence in him, paving the way for a standalone film focused on the Rolex character.
Directed by Siva, Kanguva is set to hit theaters on November 14th, 2024, and the excitement surrounding the film is palpable as Suriya aims for a breakthrough in his career.
