The 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) kicked off in Goa with many celebrities attending the opening ceremony. The first-panel discussion, focusing on Women’s Safety and Cinema, took place yesterday. During the conversation, Khushboo's powerful remarks stood out.
When asked if women face hardships only in the film industry, Khushboo responded by highlighting the universal struggles women face everywhere, not just in cinema. She shared an experience from her past, where a hero inappropriately asked her for a chance during a break. Khushboo, emphasizing her self-respect, responded, "My chappal size is 41. Should I slap here or in front of everyone on the set?" She stressed that women should stand up for themselves in such moments, focusing on self-respect rather than worrying about career consequences.
The panel, moderated by renowned actor and producer Vani Tripathi Tikoo, also featured Imtiaz Ali, Suhasini Maniratnam, Bhumi Pednekar, and Khushboo. The panelists discussed significant issues regarding women’s safety, gender representation, and cinema’s role in influencing societal values.
