In a significant ruling, the Telangana High Court has directed that children under the age of 16 should be restricted from watching movies in theaters and multiplexes after 11 PM. This decision follows consultations with child psychologists and concerned parties, highlighting the negative impact of late-night activities on the physical and mental health of children. The court has recommended that the state government regulate the timing for children's entry into theaters, allowing access only before 11 PM or after 11 AM.

This decision was made during a hearing on petitions related to rising movie ticket prices and the approval of special shows. Justice B. Vijayasen Reddy, while deliberating on the issue, pointed out that late-night movie outings, especially past midnight or in the early morning, could be harmful to children’s health. The petitioner's lawyer argued that watching films at odd hours could disrupt children's sleep and overall well-being, and the court carefully considered these concerns before making its ruling.

This move reflects a growing concern for child welfare and the need for regulating movie schedules to ensure they do not negatively impact children’s health.
