Gurthunda Seethakalam has Satya Dev, Tamannaah, Megha Akash, and others in the lead roles. The film is helmed by Nagasekhar and it released in theaters today. Here's our review of the film.

Story: Satya Dev meets a young lady, played by Megha Akash at a hill station in Karnataka. They then start their journey towards Bengaluru, through the course of which, Satya opens up about his love story and marital life with Tamannaah. What's so special about the love story? How does this story end? The answers to these questions form the rest of the plot.

How did the actors perform?

The film has a strictly minimal casting proposition. Satya Dev shoulders the film with his true-to-the-trope performance. He looks sharp in the role of a man who sustained a lot of personal suffering in the past. His fin act is one of the few positives of the film.

Megha Akash gets an inconsequential role. She performs to the best of her abilities. Tamannaah is decent in a role that has good depth. Her performance in the climax portion, which has an emotionally stirring narrative looks fine. The rest of the supporting cast deliver an okayish act.

What about the technical finesse?

For those who don't already know, this film is a remake of Kannada film, Love Mocktail. The director Nagasekhar sticks tot the core elements of the original. There are very few changes to the story. There are only a couple of cosmetic changes to the tone in order to suit the tastes of the Telugu audience. So for those who've watched the original, this film will be a damp squib.

The desired emotional depth is missing in the narrative which acts against the cause for the love drama. The lack of emotional connect makes the whole presentation seem insipid at times. The teen love track is decent and it is possibly the only saving grace. But as a whole, the film lacks the desired punch.

The music by Kaala Bhairava is of decent quality and his songs are okayish at best. There isn't too much to talk about the cinematography or the making values. The editing coulve been better as there's a fair bit of lag in either halves.

Verdict: As a whole, Gurthunda Seethakalam is a below par love drama that lacks the desired depth which is quintessential for a love drama. The film falls flat for most parts due to the predictable narration.

Rating: 2/5
