Young hero Kiran Abbavaram’s Meter released in theaters today. The film is promoted as a proper action drama with a cop backdrop and Kiran aggressively promoted the film. Here’s our review of it.

Story: Arjun Kalyan(Kiran) is a careless SI who is least interested in the police job but anyways ends up being one. Incidentally, he finds himself at crossroads with the state home minister (Dhanush Pawan). What’s the story behind it? Can an SI escape the wrath of the home minister?

How did the actors perform?

Kiran Abbavaram plays a stereotypical role in this cop thriller drama that is supposedly a commercial entertainer. This is his vague attempt to gain mass image and garner a market amongst the masses.

Athulya Ravi, Dhanush Pawan, and others gets decent roles but they go overboard with it and end up undoing the essence of the characters if there is any.

What about the technical finesse?

The director Ramesh Kaduri’s script is from the dinosaur era. Films of this genre and set up were outrightly rejected by the audience in the recent past but he still decides to go on with it.

The music and cinematography are alright but there isn’t much scope for them to excel in this poorly executed commercial potboiler.

Analysis: Rarely does a film propel the audience to walk out of theaters 15 minutes into watching it. But sadly for Meter, this film perfectly falls into this category. It is outrageously bland from the get go and only goes south from there.

Meter is a very poorly executed commercial film that fails on so many more counts than one. It is by far one of the worst films to have released in Tollywood in the recent past.

The careless police officer hero track, his girlfriend’s acid comedy track, and the villains god knows what track are all dated to the 80s perhaps. The film doesn’t have an iota of freshness to keep the audience seated.

Things go from bad to worse to ridiculous for Meter in the latter half where there are many Mass scenes to elevate the hero. As talented as Kiran might be, he doesn’t have the image of the stature to pull off mass roles like these.

Most mass elevation scenes look misplaced due to the odd-looking appearance factor. Kiran should stick to his strength more in order to keep his success streak going. Clever planning is needed for him.

Verdict: Meter is a silly and pointless film that delivers a bland zero on all counts. You’ll feel like walking out 15 minutes into watching the film.
