Anni Manchi Sakunamule, featurign Santosh Sobhan and Malavika Nair in the lead roles released in theaters on May 18. The film is billed to be a feel-good love drama. Here's our review of the film.

Story: Rishi (Santosh) and Arya (Malavika) are from two warring families that have sensible issues between them. But incidentally, the young couple fall in love. But they have to deal with the bigger problem of bringing the families together. Will they be able to do so?

Artists Performances?

Santosh is a fine fit for this boy next door kind of a role. He delivers a very good performance in this role which looks tailor made for him. Malavika looks gorgeous on screen and she is a good performer herself. Rao Ramesh and Rajendra Prasad deliver whatever is expected of them.

Technical finesse?

The director Nandini Reddy takes a very simple plot and tries to narrate it in her style. She succeeds to an extent with the entertainment factor but the emotional thread is very weak. The BGM and visuals are elite and so are the production values of Swapna Cinemas.

Analysis:

For love dramas with family sentiments to click, the drama factor should be bang on point but in the case of AMS, this doesn't happen. There are subtle emotions but they are undone by the shabby and lethargic writing.

There are a few funny scenes in the opening half and they do leave the viewers in splits. But what follows is a tiresome and predictable tale of family feuds.

Two warring families coming together through two lovers is an age old concept. While the story is dated, at least the narrative should've been freshened up. But Nandini narrates her story on a predictable note for most parts.

AMS has a dragged on screenplay which turns tiresome beyond a point and this acts against the cause for the love drama.

Verdict: AMS is dragged beyond the threshold point and it makes for a poor overall watch. It appeals to a very small section of audience who love love dramas and don't mind the slow narrative.

Rating: 2/5
