Featuring young actors Sumanth Prabhas, and others in the lead roles, Mem Famous headed for its theatrical debut today. Here's our review of the comedy caper that is funded by Chai Bisket Films.

Story: 3 jobless youth in a rural setting in Telangana decide to take their lives seriously and work towards their aim. What are the local conflicts that irk them? Will the three young and careless men be able to achieve good things in life?

How did the actors perform?

Sumanth Prabhas is a fine young talent and he performs to the best of his capabilities. He is ably supported by Saarya Laxman, Mani Augerla, Kiran Macha, Anji Mama, and others in the lead roles.

What about the technical finesse?

The film is mostly powered by the rural aesthetics that are captured and presented very well on screen. The background score also has a rustic vibe and it works well in sync with the narrative.

Analysis:

Mem Famous is kind of themed like Jathi Ratnalu, only that it stick to the rural atmospheric and stays there all the way through. The film relies heavily on the comedy tracks involving the three young men.

While the comedy works here and there the main conflict that is essential for the film's success goes for a toss. The lack of a strong driving force and the monotonous comedy track work against the cause after a point.

The first half is breezy and entertaining with the narration also being crisp and sharp. But things go awry in the latter half.

The screenplay is very scrambled in the latter half and there is no real drive. The closing portion is executed in a very poor manner and that ends the whole film on a low. Better writing was needed in the second half.

Verdict: Mem Famous is a below par comedy entertainer that is essentially a tale of two halves. The first half is breezy with decent comedy but the latter half is very bland with weak writing.

Rating: 2/5
