Prabhas's big-budget action epic, Ramayan released in theaters today amidst great hype and anticipation. Let us see what the film has to offer to the audience.

Story: Adipurush is evidently set on the Hindu mythological epic of Ramayan and it brings to screen the plot of Lord Shri Ram saving Sita Devi from the grasp of demon king Raavan.

How did the actors perform?

Prabhas is alright in the role of Lord Ram. A better designing of his looks could've worked more in favour of the film. The director Om Raut underwhelms with this. Kriti Sanon looks apt as Sita Devi and she has the right demeanor. Saif Ali Khan's looks are bad and don't have novelty.

What about the technical finesse?

The director Om Raut experiments a bit too much with Ramayan which is never a wise idea. His character designing is weak. The visual presentation is second grade. Perhaps he needed a better technical team and grip over the craft.

The BGM by Ajay and Atul is of top quality. They single handedly save many scenes in the film with their work. The cinematography is alright. The VFX and CGI are below par as well.

Analysis:

Adipurush is a tale of two halves that has a better first half than the second one. The Ram introduction scene and the action blocks are presented well in the first half. The Hanuman episodes are very good in the early exchanges.

But things go bad in the second half with one war scene after another. The drama factor isn't worked out well in the second half. The overdose of the action scenes doesn't help the cause.

The director Om Raut needed a better grip on the craft. Bringing Ramayan to life on screen is a tough task and he falters at it. There is an impression that maybe Rajamouli is the only man who can do films like these.

The second half is bland and doesn't pick any momentum from the opening half. The climax is comical with Ravan presentation looking comical.

Verdict: Adipurush has a decent first half but things go awry in the latter half. Better narration is needed for a film of this scale.
