Mahi V Raghav had a successful outing on OTT recently with Save The Tigers. He was the showrunner for this series. Now, he has come up with a new series that he has conceived and directed, it is Shaitan which is streaming on Disney+ Hotstar. Here's our review of this.

Story: Baali, a man filled with vengeance and violence sets out to kill the home minister. And he is involved with two other women who are also in this for vengeance. Will they be successful in their attempt?

How did the actors perform?

The series has Rishi, Deviyani, Ravi Kale, Aneesha Dama and others in the lead roles. As far as performances go, the series has a decent talent pool as the actors perform to the best of their capabilities.

What about the technical finesse?

The director Mahi V Raghav picks a plot that is loaded with violence and presents in an even more gore manner. There is a lot of bloodshed. The BGM is haunting and it has the creepy vibe that goes with the series. The cinematography is alright.

Analysis:

A group of common people plotting and attempting to kill the state home minister in itself packs a punch. The same is presented in a very raw and gore-filled manner which is the defining layer of the series.

But the issue here is that there is too much bloodshed and excessive use of swear words right from the first episode. This makes viewing it with family members a distant possibility. It doesn't have that appeal.

On the story merit, there are ebs and flows in the narrative. A few scenes are presented well while others look damp. As a whole, the series has right impetus to hold the attention till the end.

Verdict: Shaitan is a partly decent series with just about enough in it to keep the audience engaged. But it is not comfortable for a family viewing though.
