Bedurulanka, featuring young actor Karthikeya in the lead role has released in theaters. The trailer looked promising and it implied that the film has an interesting and fresh plot. Let us see what the actual feature presentation has to offer.

Story: In the remote and secluded village of Bedurulanka, paranoia spreads about the end of the world on Dec. 21, 2012. Some of the locals believe there is nothing as such and are optimistic about the seemingly destructive instance, while others want to profit from the fear and devise cunning plans. This unfolds a series of incidents in the area that are hard to comprehend.

How did the actors perform?

Karthikeya is a fine actor and it is good to see him perform in a new age subject like Bedurulanka which revolves around the complex yet relatable core point of 20212 world extinction. Neha Shetty has a glamorous presence. The rest of the cast is alright.

What about the technical finesse?

The film is directed by a newcomer named Clax and he picks a very fresh premise for the film. Setting a rural drama in the 2012 suspense backdrop is a brilliant idea. But he stutters in presenting it in the most gripping way possible. The music is of good quality. The visual presentation is of top tier quality.

Analysis:

A rural drama in 2012 extinction backdrop is a very unique idea and the director picks the same. The film starts off well with the hoax backdrop related scenes setting the stage.

Buit the issue with films like these is the novelty and connecting factor. The core plot is relatable but it has to be presented in a really gripping and packed manner. The director stutters here as there is a lot of lag in the opening exchanges. After the character establishment, the film loses pace and the comedy track turns monotonous.

After the hoax plot sets in, the pace picks up. The comical efforts of cunning villagers who are trying to cash in on the world extinction theme pack a punch.

The latter half is compartively much better. The comedy part in the last 30 minutes is very good. The dialogues leave the audience in splits for most part and this works in its favor.

Verdict: Those who love rural dramas set in a unique backdrop and don't mind some lag can give it a try for its whackiness. But keep your expectations in check.
