Pawan Kalyan, the Deputy CM of Andhra Pradesh, expressed frustration over the continued illegal rice export activities at the Kakinada port. Despite having previously vowed to take action against these operations while in opposition, he found that the illegal trade was still ongoing under the NDA government.
During his inspection of the port, Pawan Kalyan discovered that illegal rice shipments were still taking place, prompting him to reprimand Kakinada TDP MLA Vanamadi Venkateswara Rao for his failure to curb these activities. Pawan Kalyan questioned the government’s commitment to stopping the illegal export of rice, particularly after the Kakinada collector seized 640 tonnes of smuggled rice.
The Deputy CM also held discussions with the concerned officials, including Port Officer Dharma Sastry, DSP Raghuveer, and Civil Supplies Officer Prasad, warning them of serious consequences if corrective measures were not taken immediately. The illegal rice export business, allegedly started by former MLA Dwarampudi Chandrasekhar Reddy during the YCP tenure, remains a significant concern for the NDA government, with Pawan Kalyan emphasizing the need for strict action to put an end to it.
