The suspects' threat to migrant labourers escalated tension in the region, necessitating increased security measures across borders. Deputy inspector general (DIG), Border Range, Rakesh Kumar Kaushal said suspicious movement was detected Tuesday night. It is also learned that the suspected armed militants threatened the migrant labourers of dire consequences if they reported their presence to the police. In the past, armed fidayeen representing the United Jihad Council had stormed the Pathankot Air Force base on January 2, 2016.
