Rajbhog Foods, a name that dates back to 1981 has quite an interesting history. Here’s a quick rewind of how it got established and became the top brand for Indian sweets across the USA.Back in 1981, our founders, Ajit Mody & Lata Mody, a visionary Indian couple living in the USA, realized the lack of authentic Indian sweets in the USA. They dreamed of helping fellow desis who missed authentic Indian sweets. They brought their dream to life, by opening a small sweet shop in Jackson Heights, New York. This sweet shop served authentic Indian sweets made in pure ghee and mawa and they were handmade by our founder, Lata Mody. With the love and support of our customers, we extended our sweet shop and added an Indian chaat section, which was a success too.
It was the hard work of our founders and a constant belief in being successful that took the brand to the next level, just within a span of seven years.
A few years later, the next generation joined the family business and together they made the brand what it is today. Sons of our founders, Sanjiv Mody an engineer by profession, Sachin Mody a graduate from NYU came together with modern strategies, techniques and a vision to expand the business across the nation. This young, enthusiastic, and hardworking brother-duo successfully planned and launched the brand’s very first sweet manufacturing factory in 1990.
A few years later in 2008-2009, Rajbhog Catering came into existence. It was the thought of bringing people together and being a part of their celebrations that made us start our catering services. Since then, our catering section has also been quite successful. We cater to all kinds of gatherings like weddings, Gujarati Sangathans, Corporate Events, and more. We take pride in the fact that we have catered the luncheon held for various dignitaries and politicians with India’s Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi during his visit to the UN in New York City.
