Dramatic scenes unfolded outside Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s official residence when Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders, including Sanjay Singh and Saurabh Bharadwaj, arrived to refute BJP’s claims about a luxurious upgrade. The BJP had accused Kejriwal of spending public money on lavish renovations to the Chief Minister's bungalow at 6, Flagstaff Road, calling it "Sheeshmahal," allegedly featuring a golden toilet, swimming pool, and minibar.

In response, AAP leaders arrived at the residence with media to showcase the truth. However, they were stopped by police, citing law and order concerns. Singh and Bharadwaj argued that stopping them was a breach of privilege. They insisted that BJP's claims were false and asked for the media to be allowed inside the residence to verify the renovation claims.

Later, the AAP leaders attempted to visit the Prime Minister's residence to further highlight the issue, but were stopped again. The AAP leaders criticized BJP's "misinformation" and demanded transparency regarding both the Delhi and Prime Minister’s residences.

The controversy comes as the Delhi elections approach, with BJP accusing Kejriwal of prioritizing the renovation during the COVID-19 crisis when Delhi residents were struggling for oxygen and medicines. A recent CAG report has also fueled BJP's claims, highlighting the cost disparity in the renovation project. In response, AAP leaders countered that BJP's narrative was aimed at deflecting attention from their own issues, including the Prime Minister’s residence.
