IANT Celebrates International Women’s Day, March 8, 2023
India Association of North Texas celebrated International Women’s Day at Minerva Banquet Hall in Plano, Texas, USA.
After a note of welcome by Sushma Malhotra, IANT president-elect and Chairperson of the IWD committee, the program covered the stories of 11 remarkable women, the keynote speaker, Preetha Prabhakar ESG of NanBan, as well as a dance performance, Naari Shakti (Woman Power).
Speakers were selected on the basis of their responses to questions regarding their service to the community, the relevance of Women’s Day and their thoughts on driving gender equity through technology. At the end of the program, they were felicitated by the Board and recognized with trophies.
IANT Woman of the Year 2023 award was given to Geeta Menon founder of the organization One Earth One Chance (OEOC). OEOC planted 760 trees and shrubs in DFW with irrigation to ensure their survival, arranged litter pick up by youth in parks, ran clothing drives to divert gently used textiles away from landfills and raised awareness about sustainable living.
IANT President Dinesh Hooda and IANT President Elect and Event Chair for Women’s Day event, Sushma Malhotra, thanked all the Board members, volunteers and attendees. as well as the eminent speakers for sharing their success stories, and inspiring others and for making the event a grand success.
Dinesh thanked the sponsors for their generous contributions to IANT in the year 2023. IANT Board of Trustees Emeritus Shabnam Modgil, IANT Board of Trustee Chairman Indu Reddy Mandadi thanked the Board for successfully conducting the event and honoring the women from our local community.

The India Association of North Texas (IANT) is a 501(c)(3) Non-profit, non-political, non-sectarian organization, established in 1962 and incorporated in 1976. Its primary purpose is to serve the cultural and educational needs of the North Texas Indian community. IANT is an umbrella organization in the DFW Area for the Indian diaspora.
IANT accomplishes its vision of service to the community by hosting Texas sized celebrations of India’s Republic Day and Independence days. It also provides Consular camps, free Health Camps, blood donation drives, Women’s Day celebration, Gandhi Jayanti, Gandhi Peace Walk, Yoga Day, and Painting Competitions to serve the varying needs of the Indians in the region. IANT also provides support and guidance to the Indian American community.
