The recent rape and murder of a 31-year-old doctor at a Kolkata government hospital has led to intense scrutiny and a high-profile investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The victim’s parents have petitioned the Calcutta High Court, alleging that the autopsy revealed a significant amount of semen in their daughter's body—150 mg—suggesting gang-rape. The postmortem report confirmed strangulation as the cause of death, along with numerous injury marks indicating a brutal and violent assault.

The parents criticized the state police for only arresting Sanjoy Roy, a civic volunteer, without pursuing other possible suspects.
