Koratala Siva, a renowned filmmaker in the Telugu film industry, recently drew attention with his remarks about taxpayer privileges during a podcast hosted by former IAS officer Jayaprakash Narayanan. Known for his successful directorial career, Siva shared a personal anecdote about an incident at the airport where he felt entitled to special treatment due to his high tax contributions.
During the podcast, Siva recounted an experience where, due to a tight schedule, he was assisted by a protocol officer to expedite his check-in process. This led to an altercation with another passenger who questioned his bypassing of the line. Siva defended himself, stating, “I pay close to 4 Cr rupees as tax every year. I should have this privilege,” which received applause from some onlookers.
Siva further expressed his curiosity about why there aren’t more tangible privileges for high taxpayers and questioned the utilization of tax revenue. His comments have ignited a discussion on social media about the fairness of tax benefits and the allocation of public funds, reflecting a broader debate on the expectations and entitlements of high taxpayers.
