Jill Biden received a stunning 7.5-carat synthetic diamond worth $20,000 from Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to the US in June 2023. This gift has become the most expensive one received by the US first family in 2023, according to a State Department report .

 

However, Jill Biden won't be able to use the diamond personally, as it has been retained for official use in the White House East Wing. The diamond will eventually be handed over to the National Archives after the Bidens leave office. Although, Jill Biden does have the option to purchase the gift from the US government at its market value after Biden's term ends.

 

This diamond is among the many luxurious gifts received by the Bidens from foreign leaders in 2023. Some other notable gifts include:

It's worth noting that gifts received by the first family exceeding $480 in value from foreign officials have to be declared, and expensive items are typically transferred to the National Archives or displayed officially .
