Hollywood Hills Under Siege: New Fire Sparks Evacuation Fears Amid LA Wildfire Crisis

A new fire has broken out in the Hollywood Hills, specifically near Runyon Canyon, adding to the woes of weary Los Angeles firefighters. Los Angeles Fire Chief Kristin Crowley announced that all available resources are being deployed to combat the blaze, but she cautioned that information is limited at this point .

The fire is burning near a densely populated area, sparking concerns about the safety of residents. Retired Los Angeles County Fire Capt. Bob Goodman emphasized the danger posed by embers and strong winds, which could spread the fire rapidly. He urged residents to evacuate immediately, warning that even a small ember could ignite a devastating conflagration ¹.

An evacuation zone has been established, and residents are advised to flee the area between the 101 Freeway and Laurel Canyon, and between Mulholland Drive and Hollywood Boulevard. A wider evacuation advisory has also been issued for areas south of Hollywood Boulevard to Sunset Boulevard and west to Coldwater Canyon Drive ¹.

This latest fire is part of a larger wildfire crisis in L.A. County, which has already claimed five lives and destroyed over 1,100 buildings. Fire officials have acknowledged being overwhelmed by the size and speed of the fires, and a high-wind warning remains in effect until 10 p.m. .
