The Telangana government’s recent introduction of HYDRAA represents a significant effort to address illegal constructions encroaching on water bodies and protect FTL (Full Tank Level) and buffer zone lands. This initiative, spearheaded by Revanth Reddy, has generally received positive feedback for its environmental and regulatory goals. However, it has also sparked intense political opposition from BRS, BJP, and MIM, who are critical of the program’s implications.

Veteran political analyst Professor K Nageswara Rao has weighed in on the situation, offering a perspective that resonates with Congress supporters. According to Rao, HYDRAA is essentially a "war against the wealthy," targeting those who have built properties in sensitive areas like FTL and buffer zones. He notes that such properties are typically owned by affluent individuals and political figures, rather than middle-class citizens who are aware of the risks associated with such encroachments.

Rao suggests that the backlash from the wealthy and politically connected individuals, such as actor Nagarjuna, could ultimately benefit Revanth Reddy. He argues that the visible opposition from these groups may enhance Reddy’s image as a defender of public land, likening him to a modern-day Robinhood. Rao believes that this controversy will likely bolster Revanth Reddy’s standing among the common people, turning political attacks on HYDRAA into opportunities for reinforcing his legacy as a champion of environmental and regulatory integrity.
