- Katuri Subba Rao donation, Andhra Pradesh floods, Vijayawada relief efforts
Andhra Pradesh has been grappling with its worst flooding in decades, with Vijayawada and surrounding areas suffering severe impacts from the Krishna River’s wrath. For the past week to 10 days, the state has faced extreme distress, prompting relentless efforts from both the government and private individuals to restore normalcy. Among the notable contributors is philanthropist and entrepreneur Katuri Subba Rao, who has made a substantial donation of ₹10 crore towards the flood relief activities in Vijayawada.
Katuri Subba Rao, founder and chairman of Vignan Educational Foundation, has a long history of philanthropic work, including the establishment of educational institutions and hospitals in India and Tanzania. His generous donation is the largest recorded contribution to date, reflecting his commitment to supporting communities in need during crises. The funds will significantly aid the ongoing relief and recovery efforts in the flood-affected areas.
In addition to Subba Rao’s contribution, other notable donations have been made, including ₹5 crore from Jasthi Sudha and the Venkat Family, and ₹2 crore from Sri Chaitanya’s Kalyan Chakravarthy. These substantial contributions underscore the collective effort being made to address the challenges posed by the devastating floods and support the recovery of affected communities.
