Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar recently addressed the importance of unity among India's state institutions during the inauguration of the Samvidhan Mandir at Mumbai's Elphinstone Technical High School and Junior College. His comments come shortly after a Supreme Court judge criticized the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), referring to it as a "caged parrot." Dhankhar emphasized that the judiciary, legislature, and executive must work together harmoniously to uphold the Constitution and ensure democratic values. He cautioned against political debates and narratives that could undermine these institutions, which operate under strict rules and are crucial for maintaining the rule of law.

Supreme Court Justice Ujjal Bhuyan made significant remarks in his judgment concerning Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's petition related to his arrest by the CBI. While Justice Bhuyan granted bail to Kejriwal, he criticized the CBI's perceived lack of impartiality, comparing it to a "caged parrot." This judgment has triggered a strong response from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which has accused the BJP-led central government and Union Home Minister Amit Shah of orchestrating a biased investigation. Delhi Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj has called for Shah's resignation, citing the Supreme Court’s remarks on the CBI's integrity.

Dhankhar's remarks highlight the delicate balance that must be maintained among state institutions and the potential dangers of politicizing their functions. He stressed the need for a collective effort to nurture democratic values and prevent institutions from becoming focal points of political controversy. His statement serves as a reminder of the importance of maintaining the credibility and effectiveness of India’s governing bodies amid ongoing political debates and challenges.
