In the wake of the devastating floods that have affected parts of Andhra Pradesh, there has been a surge in financial contributions from celebrities, businessmen, and philanthropists to support relief efforts. The offices of CM Chandrababu Naidu and IT Minister Nara Lokesh have been inundated with donations to the AP CM Relief Fund (CMRF).

Amidst this outpouring of support, the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YCP) and its leader, Jagan Mohan Reddy, have come under scrutiny. TDP and Janasena supporters on social media have been mocking Jagan Mohan Reddy for his pledge to donate Rs 1 crore for flood relief but allegedly failing to submit the cheque to the CMRF. For over a week, activists from these parties have persistently tagged Jagan on Twitter, questioning the status of his donation.

In response to the social media backlash, YCP leader Botsa Satyanarayana addressed the issue publicly. He clarified that YCP does not intend to channel the donation through the CMRF. Botsa explained that Jagan Mohan Reddy had already contributed Rs 1 crore directly to flood relief operations and an additional Rs 10 lakhs recently. According to Botsa, the party has been actively involved in relief efforts by distributing food, milk, water, and essential supplies directly to the affected areas. He argued that YCP's approach of managing relief operations independently is more effective and aligned with their goals.

This stance diverges from the usual practice of funneling donations through official channels like the CMRF. While the YCP’s approach has been met with criticism, it reflects the party’s commitment to direct intervention in disaster relief efforts.
